Open Interest
The total number of open (unclosed) futures contracts. Its change reveals whether a move is backed by fresh money.
Open Interest (OI) counts positions still open. Price up + OI up = trend fueled by new buyers; price up + OI down = mere short covering, a more fragile move.

A rally with rising OI → new longs, a credible trend.
