What is Deep-M IVB?

The Opening Range Breakout rests on a simple idea: the first minutes of the regular session set a range, and leaving that range often sets the tone for the day. The concept was never the problem, measurement was. Where do you put the target, when is a break credible, when do you give up? Deep-M IVB answers those with historical statistics instead of an invented rule.

What DeepCharts does better

DeepCharts computes the levels from years of historical data analysis and projects them automatically: the opening range boundaries (high, low, midpoint), then three distinct targets, a protection level, which is the highest-probability one, an average extension, and a standard-deviation projection. On top of that come reaction zones, where price statistically tends to pause, and a daily bias shown in the top-left corner: neutral, bullish or bearish.

Using it day to day

The key setting is the opening range duration: 15, 30 or 60 minutes, with DeepCharts recommending 30. Two switches matter: Enable Protection, which displays protection and exit levels once the range breaks, and Enable Zones, which draws the strongest reaction zones. The rest (colors, opacity, zone extension) is cosmetic. In practice you set it before the open, read the bias, and let the levels sit.

In a real situation

Typical case: the first thirty minutes' range breaks to the upside. Without a tool you improvise a target. With Deep-M IVB you get three ranked references, protection first, average extension next, standard-deviation projection last, and you know which is most likely. That turns an exit taken on feel into an exit planned before entry.

The trap to avoid

The trap is confusing probability with certainty. A most-likely target is still a statistic: it fails regularly, and that is normal. The classic error is aiming straight for the standard-deviation projection because it pays more, ignoring that it is precisely the one reached least often. The second trap is forgetting context: an ORB on a day that opens into major data does not behave like an ORB on a quiet session.

Combine it with

Deep-M IVB gives you structure; order flow gives you the trigger. A range break confirmed by absorption giving way, read on the footprint, is worth far more than a break taken on the line cross alone. Combine it with the previous day's volume profile: if the computed target lands on a high-volume node, it has two reasons to be reached.

FAQ

What does IVB stand for in Deep-M IVB?+

DeepCharts does not define the acronym in its public documentation. What is documented is the function: an algorithmic indicator built to instrument the Opening Range Breakout structure with levels computed from historical data.

Which opening range duration should I choose?+

Three options exist, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, and DeepCharts recommends 30. A shorter range reacts faster but produces more false breaks; a longer one is more reliable but gives up part of the move.

Does Deep-M IVB give automatic entry signals?+

It provides breakout points, ranked targets and structured risk zones, but a level is not an entry. The decision stays at execution, and it is the flow read at the moment of the break that validates or invalidates it.
