Institutional Order Flow: NQ Futures

Module 04 · The ten institutional setupsLesson 13 of 269 min🔒 Students only

Setup 3 · DOM Vacuum

Level: advanced · Target R:R: 1:2.5 to 1:4 · Window: any active session, after a consolidation

When the order book is empty over a price range, price crosses it at high speed: there is nothing to eat. These zones are spotted in two places at once: an LVN (low volume node) on the volume profile, and a dark zone on the heatmap. Institutions use them to trigger fast moves toward the next wall.

Procedure

  1. Scan the heatmap: dark zones above or below price, several points thick.
  2. Cross-check with the volume profile: the zone must match an LVN. A zone that is empty on the heatmap but full of historical volume is not a vacuum, it is a level the market has already accepted.
  3. Identify the trigger: the level just before the zone, where price consolidates. That is where the decision is made.
  4. Place a stop order (buy stop or sell stop) one tick beyond the trigger. Here, you want to be carried by the acceleration, not watch it.
