Institutional Order Flow: NQ Futures

Module 04 · The ten institutional setupsLesson 15 of 269 min🔒 Students only

Setup 5 · Footprint Exhaustion

Level: intermediate · Target R:R: 1:2 to 1:3 · Window: end of a move, often the PM session

The market rises for several candles with a clearly positive delta. Then price keeps rising, but the delta drops candle after candle: sellers start to dominate the aggression while price is still holding up. The effort is huge, the result small: the move is at the end of its life.

Procedure, short case

  1. Four or five consecutive bullish candles on the 1-minute, with a visible acceleration.
  2. Read the footprint delta: for example +800, +650, +400, +180. The divergence must be clear over at least three candles.
  3. The CVD flattens out or starts to fall while price is still rising.
  4. The Speed of Tape slows down compared with the start of the move. A final acceleration followed by a sharp stop (climax) strengthens the signal.
  5. The heatmap shows a wall above: a persistent purple band waiting.
