FDAX: order flow on Eurex
Module 08 · 8 · Risk and the funded accountLesson 31 of 359 min🔒 Students only
Position size in euros: FDAX, FDXM, FDXS
The stop is thought in euros, then in points, then in contracts
On the NQ, many traders size in contracts: "one MNQ to start, two when it goes well". On the DAX, that habit costs an account, because the point is worth EUR 25 on the full contract and the same stop in points can be worth EUR 20 or EUR 500 depending on the contract. The correct order is the reverse:
- The risk per trade in euros. A fraction of the capital or of the allowed drawdown: 0.5% to 1% when trading your own money, a finer fraction on a funded account (next lesson).
- The stop in points. Decided by structure, never by risk: behind the bid that absorbs, outside the sweep, beyond the band. On the DAX, a structural stop is rarely under 10 points and often 20 to 30.
- The number of contracts, and which one. Risk in euros divided by the stop in points, then rounded down and converted into the contract that allows that size.
