The journal by window
What you note, on top of the usual
A DAX trader's journal has three fields an NQ trader's does not, and they match the three regimes of the day:
- The window. Open (9 am to 10:30 am), late morning (10:30 to 11:30 am), lull (11:30 am to 2:30 pm), handover (2:30 pm to 4:15 pm), late afternoon (4:15 pm to 5:30 pm), evening. One word, not a time.
- The handover's regime. At 3:30 pm, did the ES take over in the morning's direction, against it, or not at all? Noted once a day, after 4 pm.
- The morning's size at the test. For each card 2 trade: did the morning's size come back whole, reduced, or not at all? And for each card 2 trade you did not take, why.
