FDAX: order flow on Eurex
The false signals specific to the DAX
Five false signals the NQ did not teach you
An order flow reader coming from the CME knows the general false signals: spoofing, the band that pulls, the imbalance on three contracts. The DAX adds five of its own, all coming from its structure: a compressed book, three regimes a day, and a cash market that goes through auctions.
1. Auction convergence mistaken for aggression. Between 8:55 and 9:00, and again around 12:58 and 17:28, the FDAX drifts towards the Xetra auction's indicative price. The footprint shows a delta, because arbitrageurs execute at market. That is not an opinion on the DAX, it is a mechanical alignment. You do not trade the three minutes before an auction.
2. The midday lull absorption. At 12:40, a bid of 80 takes 160 contracts without moving: ratio of 2, two reloads, everything is there. Except there were only 160 contracts in twenty minutes in the whole book. In an empty market, a single passive participant is enough to manufacture a perfect absorption, and there is nobody to confirm it afterwards. Module 4's thresholds only hold in the volume windows.
